Export containers from South Africa- Great news for Citrus exports from South Africa into USA. In the past exports was only allowed to certain ports into USA. Exports will be allowed to any USA port that has cold storage facilities, including important ports of Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia. SA exports would now reach more importers/consumers at USA.
Container Lost at Sea- On the 30th November 2020, One Line Express lost about 1816 containers overboard on the vessel the One Apus. On the 16 January 2021 the Maersk Eseen lost about 750 containers while on route from Xiamen in China to Los Angeles on the US west coast which was due to bad weather conditions. It is very critical for the buyers/importers have marine insurance for their goods in containers while in transit from port to port otherwise they will suffer huge losses as the shipping companies will not compensate for the containers that went over board. Shipping lines does repudiate any claims or such by standing firm as per their clauses declared at the back of the Bills of Ladings.
