Air Freight Services

Innotec Solutions Africa offers daily flights via import / export from all major airports  with speed  via direct flights, express consolidation and consolidation               option. We use reputable IATA carriers when Importing & Exporting of cargo thus allowing the best route, reliable service and a good ground handling. Airfreight   being the most expensive way of transport, our skilled staff ensures that pre-clearance are done prior to goods arriving  & our ISO standards are maintained our customer enjoys the services at a cost effective & affordable price. 


Air Charter maybe considered when moving cargo that is of an abnormal size or too large to fit into passenger aircraft. Technical information such as the correct type of  cargo aircraft, routing, ground handling landing rights are very critical when arranging airfreighting cargo of this magnitude. Air Charter becomes least expensive when the utilizing full capacity of the charted aircraft especially when moving project cargo. 


Exporting or Importing of pets via air freight, one would need to consider the following: Quarantine space, Import Permit, Blood Test, Veterinarian, airline acceptance, routing, vet certificates, ample food/water accompanied with pet, Export/import permits, travel kennels, ground handling which has to be done effectively & efficiently whereby allowing pet owners a peace of mind. 


Perishable cargo via import & export via airfreight requires our specialized skills to effectively freight cargo with less hassles . Hazardous cargo prior to exporting would need to packed according to the IATA rules & regulations, airline acceptance, Dangerous Goods packing declarations completed & the forwarding agent must be qualified to handle this type of cargo. Prior to exporting the forwarding agent must provide good advice otherwise could be detrimental to the client & agent .


Sea Freight Services

Innotec Solutions offers sailings to/from major ports via FCL,LCL and breakbulk; Sailings offered via direct & trans-shipment ports, sailings are weekly, fortnightly and once a month. In a very competitive logistics market we offer our clients the benefit of our contracted rates with the key shipping lines at a lower shipping rate & but at good service level. We offer customized supply chain solutions above & beyond our ISO Standard benefiting importers / exporters.  Efficiently & Customizing supply chain solutions when importing or exporting via ocean freight allows reduces risk thus increasing the profitability of the customer.  Our Project Management Systems allows us to organize, plan, manage, lead in order to achieve our goals set when importing /exporting. 


Less than Container Loads (LCL/LCL)  can be very effective for an importer /exporter as one can ship cargo and pay for only for their space taken up & not the entire price of shipping a container.  When Shipping to South Africa via LCL one would need to consider when offered cheap rates from suppliers/shippers not to simply book cargo with them, as importers often get charged absorbent Local South African charges when goods arrive so importers must get an FOB price from a local clearing agent to compare & it would be better handled by South African agents from a insurance point, status update & a cost point. Shipping  from South Africa via LCL, exporters must consider routing, transit time, frequency, handling to/from South Africa, payment methods & International Commercial Terms. 


Full Container Loads (FCL/FCL) are cost effective when importers & exporters has reached a point where there entire container either a 6m or 12m can be utilized by themselves. Importers generally finds that their landed cost drops down drastically when compared to LCL. Shipping in containers allows the importer /exporter the advantage of choosing vessel carriers, routing, transit time & frequency thus improving the level of service. Shipping in containers can be considered the best way of mode of transport especially from a handling point, insurance & a cost effective method when compared to airfreight or sea freight via LCL.  


Break bulk Shipping pertains to a variety of cargo that is not transported in ISO rated containers which generally is over-sized, heavy weight & cannot fit in containers. The ships that carry these sort of cargo are known as Mulit-purpose Vessels or Break Bulk Carriers. The complexity of transporting cargo being over-size /heavy weight requires our expert resources at our disposal to ensure a reliable, cost optimization,  project management &  loading equipment

giving our clients the peace of mind.  Cargo can be transported as is or on flat racks or on platforms which are very scarce depending on how over-sized/heavy weight the goods are. Movement of goods via rail is not an option as it will attract a double railage, often the exceeding mass/size does not permit railing to/from ports & road freight must be considered as the best movement of transport.


Perishable Cargo needs to be maintained at a specific temperature through out its journey, transit time taking into consideration, routing, shelf life, gensets & shipped with A class vessel carriers thus the consumers enjoying the fresh produce. Vessel carriers regulates temperatures at the specific temperature nominated by the exporter prior to picking up containers & all Reefer containers are accompanied with a trip sheet which keeps record of temperature of cargo though out its journey. The refrigerated/ reefer container while in transit via road must have a genset, at the quay plugged in & also plugged in on board ship. Goods are packed to a certain specified height in the container in order to ensure proper air circulation in container. Worldwide Logistics movement requires careful planning & analysis of product characteristics must be considered e.g. Ethylene levels, respiration, water levels. Pre-shipment shipment inspections must also be done by exporter /shipper to ensure quality of cargo as if damaged it will increase the ethylene emission thus increasing decay of products thus affecting quality of products to end users.  


When shipping Hazardous Cargo the following needs to be considered; packing of cargo according to the Dangerous Goods rules & regulations, vessel routing, hazardous packing declaration completed by shipper, tremcards done, containers labelled, vessel carrier acceptance, loading of cargo into container at the door entrance & also ensuring that the consignee / importer awareness of their country rules/regulations. Our staff will provide the best advice & ensure a smooth freighting of your cargo.


Shipping of commodity cargo into containers depends on price & country infrastructure which allows a smooth operation. We offer a complete supply chain solution; picking up from mines using tippers, storage, packing commodities into containers, weighing, railing of containers, inspections, site analysis, handling & freight to all parts of the world.  Due to these being large volume of cargo, space is pre-book with shipping lines & this also secures container equipment as this is a critical factor. Commodity cargo when shipped via Bulk, exporter/importer must arrange contract with the South African port Authorities / Transnet for allocating a dump site which is generally done at the beginning of each year or quarterly. Clearing agents like ourselves will make the necessary arrangements with the various vessel bulk owners for stevedoring & freighting of cargo. Vessels carrying bulk is very limited & may need to be charted depending on the destination of cargo. Commodity cargo we refer to Chrome Ore (fine or Lumpy), Manganese Ore, Coal, Phyrophylite and Coal. Freighting the commodities/ bulk cargo via rail services is a major problem due to the shortage of rail wagons in South Africa.

Road Freight Services

When trucking cargo Cross-border an exporter / importer must ensure that all the necessary documentation are in order to avoid delay at the various border post otherwise standing times will be imposed. When trucking Cross-border & if goods are abnormal / large in size it will require specialized trailers, import permits, export permits, police clearance, Goods in Transit Insurance & effective clearance at the various borders thus allowing a seamless operation & a peace of mind for the customers.  Exporters or Importers must note that some cross border destination maybe longer transit time due to the country infrastructure, border clearance delays and whether full loads loads or part loads. South African exporters can also benefit by supplying a SADC certificate thus reducing the consignee/buyer Duties at the SADC nominated countries thus assisting with them securing the deal. African destination countries often need a pre-shipment inspections prior to exporting. 


Our import sea freight cargo via Durban Port is delivered the very next day from date of pick up from the shipping lines/groupage operators provided goods are released by Customs & no port delays. Our air freight import cargo is delivered on same day of flight arrival provided flights arrive early hours of the morning, forwarding done by Innotec Solutions, cargo pre-cleared & provided there are no Customs stops.


Our logistics services allows us to offer reverse deliveries meaning that our service does not just stop when we deliver imported cargo to your warehouse but across South Africa as well. Our road freight services we offer Full Truck Loads(FTL), Less than Truck loads (LTL) & break-bulk part-load consolidation using our super-links / Tri-Axle / dedicated vehicles.  Our local South African transport / Courier Services we offer overnight express(ONX), next day Express(NDX)  & road freight economy (RFEC). Our imported/exported reefer containers are transported at night along with Gensets to ensure that temperature remain cool from South African inlands to/from ports.  Our refrigerated vehicles delivers local  cargo door to door which has built in gensets. Project Cycle

Definition phase -  knowing the logistics requirements / specifics, restrictions/rules established and a assigned project team Planning Phase -  service operating procedures (SOP's) are put into place, rate sheets, contract signed with the various service providers for confirm commitments, project steps, deadlines, finance planned and ISO standard set. Execution Phase (Mental & Physical part) - it is when the logistics project is effectively being carried out by the project team.  The Project managers ensures that all SOP's are met, ISO standards met, deadlines being fulfilled, finances met & are we adapting to changes being made while the project is being done. Delivery Stage - delivering of the project cargo to the importer or exporter. Abnormal Loads are when cargo / loads exceeds the general mass & size permissible on the South African National Roads as per the traffic Act93 of 1996. If cargo/loads are abnormal than one could apply for permits to allow these vehicles on the public roads.  When moving specialized freight one would need to consider the following: height / length/ width of cargo, road routing, port approvals, permits, off loading facility, strapping/lashing of cargo, low bed trailers, offloading equipment & GIT.  At Innotec Solutions our fleet offers a combination loads & also escorts fleet vehicles along with abnormal loads. Our Logistics team aims at meeting deadlines, on time delivery & at a cost effective price.  Our fleet has step decks, low beds & well deck trailers.


Rigging - Heavy lifting, relocations/dismantling of complete plant & rigging of cargo into place our project team are equipped to handle. Our plant installation is done by third party contractors Having effective & efficient equipment assist with our movement of over size or overweight cargo when rigging or when trucking cargo.  Equipment such as mobile cranes, mobile crane truck, hydraulic lifts, forklifts & warehouse assist with the project cargo on hand. 


Fuel / Petroleum Imports- Prior to importing into South Africa you will need a HDSA license issued by the Department of Energy & once granted you will need  to have an import permit issued by ITAC Storage in tanks can be arranged with the storage tank holders prior to importing which is becoming a major problem at the ports with capacity. The fuel can be transported in the pipes and arranged with the tank holders at the ports to inland destinations but obviously cleaned out as the fuel composition may vary from fuel companies. At Innotec Solutions Africa we also offer petroleum to be transported via road freight in tankers either 21,000 and 34,000 litre trucks. Fuel is generally transport via bulk vessel carriers but booked in advance to secure space but often shippers require us to charter an entire Bulk Ship. 


Shipping of vehicles - When importing of vehicles into South  Africa one would need to obtain an import permit from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the following would be considered before granting permission : new/old vehicle, how long have you owned the vehicle,  do you have the car/truck registration papers, Police clearance certificates & when offloading  vehicle can it be done at your premises as the vehicle will be on trailer. Importing of vehicles are mostly declined shipping into South Africa if they are left hand drives or privately bought vehicles by a South Africa Citizen.  When exporting vehicles from South Africa the exporter would need to obtain an export/police clearance certificate, insurance, insurance surveyor & loading bays but can be arranged by clearing agent as well.


Innotec Solutions will ensure if packed into containers that vehicles are blocked, strapped, battery detached & less petrol in the vehicle.  Vehicles can be shipped air or sea. If transported via sea it can be done via Ro/Ro or containerized.  If transported via airfreight it will be considered hazardous so one must have a hazardous packing declaration and it will need to be freighted in an cargo aircraft. When shipping armoured vehicles an exporter/importer would also need to consider the following rules/regulations of destination/origin countries, will the vehicles be accompanied by live ammunition, police escorts needed and also shipping lines/airlines approval. 


Shipping Wine - when exporting of wine are very complicated & involved. Packages used must be well thought as the buyers don't want the labels to be damaged upon arrival. Each estate issues a DA32 document transferring wine in bond from their own excise store to the bonded packing depot and we need them to give this to us for the ZE B/E's and subsequent acquittal. We then have to obtain an export certificate for each type of wine from each estate to process the export procedures below. We then have to arrange for wine estate to link Innotec Solutions to their bond , consignee and the bonded packing depot on the Department of Agriculture export control system ( WOSA) in order to process export documentation & acquittals. Once you have booked vessel , arrangements must be made with the loading depot ( nominated by the winery ) for dates & times Then we have to do the " loading notification" 24 hours before loading to the Department of Agriculture to arrange loading/excise inspections. After the container is packed and within the next 72 hours we do a "packing declaration" to the Department of Agriculture confirming exactly what was loaded and at the same time requesting the required analysis or other  certificates which can only be collected after a day or so. The exporter / shipper must confirm if they require a normal General Purpose (GP) container or a reefer container. 


Shipping of Food products(chicken, meat, eggs)- the importer would need to contact the Department of Agriculture at Pretoria & obtain an import permit prior to importing cargo. The Shipper will need to provide the following documents e.g. Vet certificates, Phyto certificates, Sanitary certificates, certificate of origin & Quality Certificates Goods will be stopped by port health & the department of Agriculture than moved into a cold store room until permission is granted by the various departments.
